• •W (Water-based): Clean only with water-based cleaning agents or foam. Mild water-soluble soaps or detergents mixed with water are permitted. Do not use solvent-based dry-cleaning fluids.
• •S (Solvent-based): Clean with mild, pure water-free dry-cleaning solvents only. Do not use water. Water applied to S-coded fabric can cause permanent water ringing, dye migration, or pile distortion.

A cleaning code indicates which agents are safe for spot cleaning. It is not a guarantee that every stain can be removed, nor does a W code mean the fabric is machine-washable.

Routine maintenance prevents airborne dust and abrasive grit from working deep into the weave, where friction wears down fibers over time.
